How to address your Complaint

To effectively address your banking service complaint with the RBI Banking Ombudsman, follow these steps:

Document Your Issue

Collect all relevant information and documentation related to your complaint, including transaction details and correspondence with the bank.

Contact Your Bank

Before escalating to the RBI, visit your local branch or contact your bank's customer service to try resolving the issue directly. Most banks have a formal complaint process that you should follow within a month of the incident.

Escalate to the RBI

If your bank fails to address your complaint satisfactorily within a month, you can then approach the Banking Ombudsman. We can assist you in filing a complaint online through the RBI CMS portal or alternatively by mail to the Centralized Receipt and Processing Centre (CRPC) of the Reserve Bank of India, 4th Floor, Sector 17, Chandigarh 160017.

Track Your Progress

You can follow up and track the status of your complaint online through the CMS portal or call the RBI Contact Centre at 14448 for any queries regarding the Ombudsman Scheme.

Appeal if Necessary

If you are not satisfied with the decision of the Ombudsman, you can appeal to the Executive Director in-charge of the Department of RBI.
